Community Facilities campaign

Labour persists with the campaign to find community facilities in North Kilburn as crime rate increases around the Brondesbury Residents/Tenants (BRAT) area, north of Willesden Lane. Residents in Dunster Gardens are asking  for a joint solution to anti-social behaviour. Cllr Mary Arnold is calling for a partnership meeting (neighbourhood police and borough commander, BHP, PCHA, Children and Families/Youth Services/Youth offending) in order to arrive at an integrated approach to the problems of organised crime and bored youngsters without youth programmes or direction.

In related news, the Scout Hut up for sale after scandalous time it has taken to get the Scout Association to clear the site. Local developer making an offer but Planners say he must either prove there is no market for community use or contribute towards reproviding facilities for the community elsewhere in the area.

Join the campaign for facilities in North Kilburn for young people, families, community organisations and their meetings and projects. Kilburn is creative but lacks a creative space!

Hampstead & Kilburn Labour party meeting - and campaigning!

Just a reminder that our monthly meeting on 23 November is a speaker meeting - Alexander Isaac from the Social Market Foundation on ’PFIs: Another White Elephant?'. This will start at 8.30 at the Kingsgate Centre, Kingsgate Road, NW6.

As the meeting starts a little later than usual, we are encouraging all members to make the trip over to Kentish Town to help with some voter ID for the by-election.

Our campaign is going really well, but it is a very tight election and we need to do as much canvassing as possible. West Hampstead station (close to Kingsgate Centre) is just four minutes away from Kentish Town by Thameslink, so there's no excuse to not to do both!

Canvass sheets will be availble from campaign co-ordinator Sarah Haywood from 6.30 onwards at: Flat B, 48 Leverton Street, NW5 2PG. Please email Sarah on sarahlhayward@yahoo.com or call her on 07957 156 759 to let her know you are coming.
